TAKE ACTION

START A NEIGHBORHOOD, APARTMENT, OR BUSINESS WATCH PROGRAM

\

Talk with your neighbors, apartment manager, or neighboring business about starting a Neighborhood Block, Apartment, or Business Watch.

\

Contact Racine Neighborhood Watch to schedule a date for an organizational meeting.

\

Decide where to meet. Gatherings can occur in homes, backyards during the late spring through early fall, apartment complex meeting rooms, or business lunchrooms.

\

Publicize your meeting. RNW will customize and print flyers. Staff is available to help distribute the information!

\

During the meeting, elect a Block Captain and Co-Captain to liaise between neighbors and RNW.

\

Stay in contact with your  Block Watch group! RNW sends out monthly Block Captain emails for distribution and offers biannual Block Captain training. Organize a National Night Out event on the first Tuesday in August

CALL THE POLICE

Emergency Situations

Dial 911

This phone number reaches the Racine County Communication Center.

911 calls should ONLY be placed to report extremely critical or life-threatening situations where immediate law enforcement or emergency responders is imperative to protect or assist in an individual’s health, safety, and well-being, or if property is in jeopardy, a substantial crime is in progress, or a serious crime has just occurred.

Text to 911

Sending a short text message to 911 should ONLY be used in an emergency when voice calls are not possible, for example, in situations where the caller is hearing or speech impaired or would be in danger if overheard making a call. Replies to dispatch should be sent as quickly and safely as possible.

Non-emergency Situations

Call 262–886–2300

This phone number connects callers to the Racine County Communication Center’s non-emergency dispatch line. It is used to report crimes or situations that do not require an urgent and immediate law enforcement response. Residents can report non-emergency situations such as loud music, parking violations, suspected drug transactions, and suspicious activity or behaviors in their neighborhood.

Report online

This reporting tool is for incidents and crimes within Racine City limits that do not require police response. Individuals can use this site to file an online report with the police department.

DRUG ACTIVITY TIP LINE 262-635-7839

Residents witnessing suspected drug activity or transactions can call and leave a detailed message with the Violent Crimes and Intelligence Unit.

CRIME STOPPERS OF RACINE COUNTY

CSRC encourages residents when they “see something, say something.” There are three anonymous ways to report and share information with law enforcement about suspected or actual crimes, people involved, and suspicious or questionable activities.

Tipsters may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.

REGISTER YOUR SECURITY CAMERA

City of Racine homeowners and businesses with security camera systems are encouraged to participate in the City’s Community Camera program. The registration form includes questions about the location of security cameras on the property. That information is loaded into a secure police department database If an incident occurs near your home and law enforcement believes your cameras may have recorded evidence necessary in the investigation, they will contact you.

Police will provide a link so you can upload your video. An officer doesn’t have to come to your home.
